When visitors come to Las Vegas, they often come with plans to gamble at some of the finest casinos in the world, see some of the most entertaining shows and party at some of the premiere nightclubs. Still, Sin City has a lot more to offer, and adrenaline junkies and thrill seekers know that Las Vegas is home to some of the most exciting thrill rides anywhere. These attractions are a definite must see for those who love to go fast and soar high above the neon lights of fabulous Las Vegas.
VooDoo Zip Line: The VooDoo Zip Line at the Rio Las Vegas is a fast moving zip line experience that takes you up close to 500 feet in the air as you soar between the two towers at the popular off-strip casino. While you fly freely through the air from one tower to another, you’ll hit speeds of around 33 miles per hour while also getting one of the best views of the Las Vegas Strip you’ll find anywhere.
SlotZilla Zip Line: We’ll stay on the zip line theme but move over to Downtown Las Vegas for this one. At the heart of Downtown Las Vegas is the exciting Fremont Street Experience, a large, lighted canopy that hovers above the famed casinos of old Las Vegas. As you walk around historic Fremont Street, be sure to look up and you’ll be sure to catch a few people enjoying the SlotZilla Zip Line that runs the length of the Fremont Street Experience at speeds over 35 miles per hour.
Canyon Blaster: In 1993, Circus Circus opened the Adventuredome theme park to capitalize on the booming family attractions market in Las Vegas. This indoor theme park featured many classic theme park rides with the Canyon Blaster roller coaster as its centerpiece. The Canyon Blaster is touted as the largest double loop, double corkscrew roller coaster in the world to be found indoors. At the end of its near 70 foot drop, users experience 3.5 G Forces as they reach speeds up to 41 miles per hour, the fastest speeds you’ll reach while indoors in Sin City.
Big Shot: The Stratosphere has loomed high above the Las Vegas Strip since its opening in 1996. Its premiere attraction at the top of the 1,149 foot observation tower is The Big Shot, the world’s highest amusement ride in the world. During its rapid ascent from 921 feet to 1,081 feet, the Big Shot reaches speeds of 45 miles per hour and hits 4 G-Forces, which is close to what astronauts feel leaving the Earth’s orbit.
The Big Apple Coaster: The most notable speed attraction for visitors to the south end of the Las Vegas Strip is the Big Apple Coaster found at the New York-New York Hotel and Casino. With a maximum drop of 144 feet, this behemoth roller coaster hits speeds of 67 miles per hour when it hits its second drop, which can surprise even the most seasoned of roller coaster veterans.
If you’re as addicted to fast speeds as we are and need a little bit more from your Las Vegas vacation, you’ll definitely want to swing by the new SPEEDVEGAS experience, opening soon. With exciting, exotic cars from around the world, you’ll be able to hit speeds you may have only ever dreamed of reaching.
