2018 Mercedes AMG GT R

One of the most interesting vehicles to be announced at the Goodwood Festival of Speed definitely has to be the 2018 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT R. The newest track-ready beast to come from Mercedes has plenty of throwback inspirations in its design cues that are reminiscent of the 300SL Panamericana from the early 1950s. Aggressive styling is enhanced by the use of a very robust wide-body kit that improves aero performance and downforce. These aggressive changes to the body styling add an additional 342 pounds of downforce to the AMG GT R’s top speed making this sport coupe the perfect choice for anyone wanting to spend their days at the track.

The 2018 Mercedes AMG GT R will use the same 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine that is found on the current AMG GT S model. The GT R will benefit from a performance increase of 74 horsepower and 37 lb-ft more torque providing for a total power output of 577 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque.
