EXOTIC CARS

It’s always a bittersweet feeling when a company announces it will be ceasing production on a beloved vehicle. It was this same shower of bittersweet emotions that fell upon Ferrari fans when the Italian manufacturer announced 2015 would see the end of the Ferrari 458 Italia. The 458 wowed Ferrari enthusiasts from the beginning and went on to become one of the most loved and respected cars ever produced by the prancing horse. While it’s sad to see the 458 ride off into the sunset, we’re excited to see what the new Ferrari 488 has in store for us.

Earlier this year saw the unveiling of the Ferrari 488 GTB at the Geneva Motor Show sporting a 3.9L twin-turbo engine and 661 horsepower. The 488 was met with initial praise from fans and critics alike for its sleek design and crisp handling. As 2015 winds to a close, Ferrari continues to please with the unveiling of the hardtop roadster variant, the 2016 Ferrari 488 Spider.

The Ferrari 488 Spider, like its Berlinetta counterpart, contains a 3.9L twin-turbo engine, but in the Spider, the engine’s roar crescendos into the main cabin with a ferocity that only intensifies the driving experience. The 488 Spider drives almost identically to the 488 GTB, giving the driver one of the best handling Ferraris ever made. The advanced on-board electronics take care of the Side-Slip Angle control for you and make sure you stay on the road, even if you're pushing the 488 to full throttle. There’s not even a drop of understeer in the 488, but thankfully, it maintains the ability to switch off the electronic handling in case you’re craving a little bit of aggressive oversteer in your drive.
