Nico Rosberg Wins Chinese Grand Prix

Nico Rosberg continues to do the impossible as he nabs his sixth consecutive victory by taking the checkered flag at the Chinese Grand Prix. Rosberg is only the fourth person in the history of Formula 1 to accomplish this feat and extends his championship lead to 36 points over Mercedes team mate Lewis Hamilton. While the Formula 1 season is barely underway and there are still 18 races left in the season, Rosberg is pulling away from the rest of the competition and creating a points deficit that may prove difficult to overcome.

Hamilton had to start at the back of the field due to a complete engine package overhaul that took place after final practice. Starting in the back of the field placed Hamilton in a precarious situation that led to a broken front wing on the opening lap as he attempted to avoid a collision between Ferrari team-mates Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel. This led to a drama-filled day for Hamilton who made 5 unscheduled stops on pit road to repair damage before finishing in a very respectable 7th place. Vettel was able to rebound from the first lap incident to finish the Chinese Grand Prix with a 2nd place podium finish.

Rosberg continues to impress everyone with a level of consistency that hasn’t been seen in decades. One of the main components to Rosberg’s success is the quality of equipment that he is piloting. Rosberg continues to praise the car’s balance – “the best I’ve ever had.” If this sort of consistency continues at the Silver Arrow, there is a strong chance that Nico Rosberg will be the 2016 Formula 1 Champion.
