Hayden was already in country intending to substitute for Jack Miller at the Marc VDS team when the call came through for the opportunity to replace the injured Pedrosa who is recovering from a collarbone fracture last weekend in Motegi, Japan. Hayden has participated in 216 grands prix between 2003 and 2015 with three wins, and 28 podiums.

“For me it’s crazy hard work but it’s a chance, ten year after winning my world title, to get back to my old “dream team”, said Hayden.

“Doing a weekend in Phillip Island on a factory Honda, it’s pretty emotional for me to even think about it, and I’m very grateful for this opportunity and the trust that Honda gives me.”

Hayden’s return to Silverstone comes at a very crucial time for Honda who has already clinched the riders’ title and is now in a heated battle for the teams’ championship and the constructor’s championship.
