The 2016 911 GT3 Cup car features a 3.8-liter, six-cylinder
boxer engine capable of generating 460 horsepower at 7,500 RPM. The suspension
has been heavily modified to handle the higher precision required to navigate
the GT3 Cup car around challenging race circuits at high speeds. The wheelbase
has been increased by 100 millimeters along with a redesigned single-piece 18
inch racing wheel with central locking. A McPherson suspension strut that is adjustable
in height and camber is equipped at the front axle with the rear axle
benefiting from a multilink suspension.
Braking responsibilities are being handled by aluminum
six-piston racing calipers in mono-bloc design at the front and aluminum
four-piston racing calipers in mono-bloc design at the rear. Safety features
not found in the street-legal Porsche 911 GT3 include a welded-in roll cage
along with a FT3 safety fuel tank and the very important fire extinguishing
system.
