High Speed Aerodynamic Testing at Space Florida’s Shuttle Landing Facility
There are plenty of tools available to test the aerodynamic performance of your supercar to include wind tunnel testing, Dyno tuning and modeling programs. None of these simulation tools are a substitute for getting behind the wheel and pushing your car to the limits. Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds located at Space Florida’s Shuttle Landing Facility in Merritt Island, Fl, provides exotic car owners with a chance to test the true potential of their machines and grab the coveted distinction of making it into the 200+ mph club.
With over 3 miles of the flattest asphalt in the world, Florida’s Shuttle Landing Facility is the perfect spot for doing half-mile and mile-long runs behind the wheel of your most prized possession. Guinness Book of World Records is on hand for every one of these events to document any potential record setting runs that may occur. Indy Racing Series driver Ryan Hunter-Rey and World Record holder Johnny bohmer oversee the event with sponsorship from some of the biggest names in automotive tuning.
Those that are looking to document their experience have
access to a professional film crew provided by Forever Current Studios that
captures all of the action using helicopter photography in conjunction with
GoPro footage. Top speed certification is provided by the International Miler
Racing Association (IMRA). Some of the vehicles that participated in the latest
round of aerodynamic testing include the SSC Ultimate Aero, Mosler Raptor GTR,
McLaren P1, and the World’s Fastest Street Legal Car - The Badd GT.
