EXOTIC CARS

When Tesla Motors burst onto the scene in 2003, it was a revolutionary step forward in terms of electric automobiles. A few years later, in 2008, they shocked the world again with the introduction of the Tesla Roadster, the world’s first electric sports car. Here we are a few years later and Tesla is again setting the automotive world on notice with the introduction of its latest car experience, the Tesla Autopilot.

That’s right, the future of car experience is here and it’s a functional autopilot feature in Tesla vehicles. The much-awaited software was released last month, but there still seems to be a lot of confusion as to what exactly the software is capable of. With that in mind, here is a quick rundown of the features of Tesla’s new autopilot car experience.

Still a Test: The first thing to be aware of is that the Autopilot feature is a remarkable advancement in terms of the overall car experience, but it is still testing. Tesla is suggesting that while they have rolled out their new car experience to the public, it should be viewed as a period of “public beta testing” not a finished product.

“Fleet Learning”: In the spirit of the “public beta testing” Tesla is utilizing the technology in every Model S that transmits data back to the company to help improve the autopilot’s performance. The data is anonymously aggregated into maps that show the precise paths the vehicles take or don’t take.

As far as car experiences go, Tesla’s autopilot software may just be the biggest advancement the automotive industry has seen in the last hundred years. Be sure to check back in here at SPEEDVEGAS for the next part in our series breaking down all of its features.
